For over twenty years, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Gift Shop and Bookstore has been in the vanguard of national museum shops in terms of both the quality of the gifts we offer and the knowledge of our staff.
Current Gift Shop Owner Jim Hills has created a unique retail showcase for products that tell stories about the Sonoran Desert Bioregion and the Greater Southwest. His bioregional approach earned him the 1999 National Wildlife Federation Corporate Conservation Acheivement Award for "promoting sustainably harvested products, and for collaboration with businesses, nonprofits and Native tribes to conserve both wildlife and traditional ecological knowledge."
When you buy handmade Native American jewelry or pottery
from our gift shop, you can be sure that it is authentic. Our large selection of southwestern books delights
readers, and we have a wide selection of other products that exhibit a strong
sense of place. Your purchases help contribute to the programs of one of the best environmental museums in the world and whether you shop with us in person or online, we always
strive to make your experience personal, memorable, and unique.
Our whole website team is participating in the research, writing and editing of this site. We strive to bring you useful and interesting information about our products, and the region from which they come. At the end of each product description you may find a set of initials corresponding to whomever wrote it. We hope you'll enjoy learning about the nature and culture of the Sonoran Desert as much as we have!
