Dennis Hogan: Braided Elk Hide Belt with Silver and Turquoise Buckle

Dennis Hogan, an Anglo silversmith, uses traditional methods to create his amazing works of art. He does everything by hand using the tools that Navajo jewelers have used for generations. The elk hide for the belt was tanned and cut into thirteen strips by Dennis before being braided. The buckle illuminates a room with its sixteen pieces of inlaid turquoise from mines all over the Southwest.
