Doris & Warren Ondelacy Zuni Squash Blossom Necklace & Cluster Cuff
Each of the ten blossom clusters in this vintage necklace has 20 matching stones and the naja focal point has 73 stones for a total of 273 uniformly hand cut Lone Mountain turquoise cabochons set in hand crafted saw tooth bezels. The sterling silver hand hammered plates have scalloped shapes and the entire design is enhanced with silver drops, twisted wire and crescent repousse. The naja is 4.625” in diameter with a crown on top for overall pendant dimension of 6” x 4.625”. The total length of this mid-century marvel is 20.5” with the largest stone suspended from the center of the naja measuring .6875” x .375”. There are 166 hand made silver seed beads in a double strand presentation, threaded on silver chain. Each silver blossom extends across the beads serving as a bridge, permanently placing the clusters for symmetry and keeping the dual strand lying flat. The weight of the necklace alone is 465 grams.
The matching cuff has sterling silver drops and twisted wire to accent the generous center stone measuring 1.25” long and .6875" wide, as well as provide definition for the 63 uniform hand cut Lone Mountain Turquoise cabochons mounted in hand crafted saw tooth bezels. The total weight is 134.4 grams and measures approximately 6” plus a 1.75” gap. The oval face is 3.5” in width and 4” long and the 3.25” chevron side bars are 2.5” in height and 1.25” deep. The face and side bars are mounted on a half-round three wire shank.
These artists are known for their cluster work jewelry produced in the mid-twentieth century. The artists’ hallmark D. & W. is prominently stamped on both of these heirloom pieces.
