This item has been SOLD! This large lizard was carved from copal wood by Jacobo Angeles and painted by his wife, Maria, using mineral paints. The lizard stands 15 inches in length from its tail to snout and 16 inches in width at the hind feet.

As an act of curiosity we tried counting the brush strokes on this piece and got so dizzy we couldn’t complete the task. After counting one square inch we estimated there to be 10,000 individual brush strokes on the entire piece. The completion of this incredible piece had to have taken weeks of intricate work. It is a masterpiece of both design and detail and was purchased directly from the artists in 2007. Jacobo and Maria are among the best artists in their community.
