Jorge Quintana: Red and Black-on-Blue Jar

Jorge Quintana, just like Juan Quezada, is always experimenting with colors, shapes, innovative design motifs, and technical aspects of the pottery phenomenon that sprang out of the high desert plains of Chihuahua, Mexico in the late 1970s and has since been referred to as the “Miracle of Mata Ortiz.” This blue jar is the result of one of Jorge’s experiments using natural clay mixed with ground up copper, manganese and chrysacolla to achieve this new color. This polychrome jar of red and black-on-blue would be a stunning addition to anyone's collection.
