Little River Otter

Otters have it rough in Arizona!  The North American River Otter (Lontra canadensis) may not be a threatened species in most of the United States, but here in Arizona, you would be ever so lucky to spot one in the wild.  In case you haven’t visited us or didn’t notice how dry our state is, let me remind you that there is little water here in Arizona.  With little water there are few places for river otters to live and play.

The river otters at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum are by far my favorite pair of animals.  I could spend hours watching them glide through the water, twisting and turning over branches and stones, blowing bubbles out of their noses the entire time.  These otters have more fun than any other animals I have seen. Give your child a true playmate by buying this wonderful plush otter. (KY)
