From left to right:
1. 11 ¾-inch diameter plaque is called Sunflower (Akawsi Yungyapu). If the rim on this plaque were left natural it would be called mo’ah and would be an example of the first plaque a newborn baby girl will receive from the Katsinas.
2. 13 ½-inch diameter plaque and is called Star (Sohu).
3. 15 ¾-inch diameter and is referred to as Oval Filled In (Muri’ootsokpu).
4. 10-inch diameter bowl or dish (yungyapsiphoya) with a design motif that is difficult to ascertain as it incorporates several differing designs. It could fall into the category of what is referred to as a "No Name Pattern" since it seems to combine two different design elements. The first might be a "Thread Pattern" (Du’iton Yungyapu) since the border is black, but it could also be a stylized "Wedding Basket" design called (Hahawpi) in the Hopi language.
5. 14 ¾-inch diameter plaque is an Eagle Design (Kwai Yungyapu) which most likely represents a golden eagle due to the black head.

1960s Hopi Wicker Collection
This collection of four Hopi Wicker plaques (Yungyapu), and one wicker dish (Yungyapsiphoya) represents a rare opportunity. If starting a collection of wonderful wickers is your passion, this is a unique chance to begin with a set of beautiful and harmonious baskets. This collection of baskets was purchased from the Heard Museum Gift Shop a few years ago and each basket was made sometime during the early 1960s. Hopi wicker baskets (and all baskets) “age” with time by changing color when exposed to sunlight. In this case, the colors of this set of baskets have changed at the same rate over the years into a rich palette of golden rods, russets, sepias, and warm browns that is impossible to achieve without almost 50 years of mellowing. As you can see by the photographs, this set would look lovely when displayed together on a wall or table.
