Vernida Polacca Nampeyo Migration Design Coiled Olla

Migration pattern and fine line painting adorn this coiled olla of distinctive Hopi orange pottery.

A much revered "fire cloud" occurs on the shoulder of this jar, a sure sign the pot was fired traditionally, and not in a kiln.

Vernida Polacca (Nampeyo) is Nampeyo of Hano's great-granddaughter, the daughter of Harold Polacca Nampeyo, Sr. (Tewa) and Alice Polacca (Pima) and sister to renowned potters Clinton and Reva.  Her work is traditionally coiled and fired.
